First Community Mortgage adds new Atlanta-area team; this time in Johns Creek

Mortgage veterans Greg and Michelle Janicki have been serving clients from metro Atlanta to Athens and throughout the Southeast; they are joined by teammate Melinda Schneider.

First Community Mortgage has hired Greg and Michelle Janicki to establish a lending team in Johns Creek, based out of its Atlanta branch. Together they have a combined 50+ years’ experience in the mortgage industry.

“Greg’s 30 years in the mortgage industry and Michelle’s 20 years in the business, along with the previous executive leadership experience they both have, benefits their clients immensely,” says Dan Smith, President of First Community Mortgage. “Their passion about building ‘Clients for Life’ is reflected in their real estate agent relationships and repeat business from satisfied homeowners.”

Team Janicki – which will include Melinda Schneider, Processor – focuses on a full range of residential mortgage needs, including first-time and self-employed homebuyers; VA, FHA and USDA lending; and all conventional and jumbo mortgage products. While they focus on the Southeastern market, they can assist consumers with mortgages in the many markets in which FCM is licensed across the country.

“Greg’s work ethic and commitment to cultivating successful, mutually beneficial relationships is a key to his having helped so many people achieve their home ownership dreams over the years,” says Atlanta native Michelle. And Greg notes that, “Michelle’s knowledge of the industry as a previous operations manager, ensures she provides the best guidance to help their clients meet all of their home financing needs.”

Away from work, both Janickis are involved in charitable activities, including previously co-chairing the Board of the nonprofit Wellspring Living. In addition to spending time with family, including their two granddaughters, they have a passion for rescue animals and are avid golfers.

FCM Cares awards TCAT’s Gordon Scholarship

FCM Cares, First Community Mortgage’s nonprofit, has awarded the annual J.C. Gordon Scholarship to five Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) students at a scholarship ceremony recently held on the TCAT-Shelbyville campus.

The awarded funds will be used in part to purchase tools for each student recipient. FCM Cares provides TCAT with $7,500 annually for the J.C. Gordon Scholarship. The funds are then administered by TCAT leaders to different students each trimester based on instructor feedback.

The five students selected as recipients of this trimester’s J.C. Gordon Scholarship are: James J. Patton, Kevin Turner, William Dykes, Alex Gordon and Joshua Tate Alexander.

“Thank you to First Community Bank, FCM Cares, and especially the Gordon family for this generous donation that will benefit our Machine Tool Technology students,” said TCAT-Shelbyville President Laura Monk.

FCM Cares awards the J.C. Gordon Scholarship, on behalf of the family, to five students each trimester in memory of local tradesman, businessman and community leader, J.C. Gordon. Gordon was one of the founders of First Community Mortgage and sat on the company’s original board.

Gordon for years helped train TCAT students through an internship program at his company, WEGO Precision Machine. Since 2017, the J.C. Gordon Scholarship has been awarded to 60 TCAT students.

“Receiving this scholarship validates my decision to go to vocational school,” said recipient James Patton. “I would like to thank FCM Cares for helping me and my classmates with our education. It means a lot.”

First Community Mortgage adds 20-year mortgage veteran Toby Foster to their correspondent team.

By Candyd Mendoza – Mortgage Professional America

Toby Foster has come onboard to bolster the growth of its correspondent lending division.

As a correspondent account manager, Foster will work with FCM’s correspondent lender partners across the country, with an initial focus on the Southeast.

Foster has spent the last two decades building partner relationships in the retail, wholesale, and correspondent space. From 2016 to 2017, he served as president of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Georgia. Foster has also held various roles at several big firms, including Acopia Home Loans, Franklin American Mortgage, SunTrust Mortgage, and Well Fargo Home Mortgage.

“Toby has a special affinity for correspondent lending, which makes him a great liaison to our partners in that space,” said Dan Smith, president of First Community Mortgage. “His enthusiasm and excellence in the correspondent space is a great match for our dedication and continued growth in that area.”

“First Community Mortgage’s leadership has the same passion for correspondent lending that I do, so joining this organization is a terrific fit,” Foster said. “FCM is large enough to provide my correspondent partners with important basics like competitive pricing, but not so big that execution and delivery are in any way sacrificed. We’re committed to forming true partnerships, efficiently purchasing saleable mortgage loans.”

First Community Mortgage reported that it is on track to originate over $3 billion mortgages this year.

FIRST COMMUNITY MORTGAGE AND GOODWILL INDUSTRIES OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP TO PROMOTE HOMEOWNERSHIP

MURFREESBORO, TN, (May 12, 2017) — First Community Mortgage (FCM) and Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee have initiated a partnership to help potential homebuyers in
Middle Tennessee better understand and engage the home buying process, according to an announcement made jointly by Matthew Bourlakas, President of Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee and Keith Canter, CEO of FCM.

“These two organizations have a common goal of helping improve the lives of people living in Middle Tennessee communities. I’m confident that joining forces to educate and prepare families for the home buying process will be beneficial for our region,” said Bourlakas.

“This partnership with Goodwill is very significant. Working with their executive leadership to make this happen has been a joy,” said Andy Voyles, Executive VP and Director of Lending for First Community Mortgage. “Homeownership is accessible to many people who may be hesitant due to the perceived complication of the process. FCM’s Multi-Cultural Lending Initiative Team (MCLI) is fully engaged in this partnership. Their specific purpose is to provide outreach and education for underserved and bilingual markets that may not realize they can purchase a home.”

FCM launched its Multi-Cultural Lending Initiative (MCLI) in 2016 to expand its lending reach to underserved areas in Middle Tennessee. The MCLI team is focused on community outreach while leading homebuyer educational sessions for predominately minority based and bilingual markets. Local churches and metro school facilities have extended use of their locations, which has greatly helped the MCLI team’s initiatives. Many of these prospective applicants may be able to buy a home, but need a better understanding of what to do, and how to do it.

The partnership will include the following initiatives to help the local communities in Middle Tennessee:

  • Goodwill Industries and FCM will organize, promote, and hold free homebuyer preparation classes at Career Solution Centers in Middle Tennessee, directed toward the 2,000+ employees and customers of all Goodwill Middle Tennessee retail locations.
  • Personalized orientation on the home buying process will be provided to all Goodwill employees interested in learning about pre-eligibility for a home loan.
  • FCM will provide Goodwill Industries a dedicated team of professional Loan Originators to answer any questions the employees have about home buying, refinancing, and the application process.
  • All classes and counseling provided through this initiative will be provided in both Spanish and English.

Miguel Vega, VP of Multicultural Lending at First Community Mortgage, has been a major part of establishing and growing this partnership. “Bringing together two great companies for the purpose of helping others is powerful. It is something I am personally excited about. It shows how dedicated FCM and Goodwill Industries are to helping people understand the process of buying a home, which can be very confusing, especially for first-time homebuyers.”

“This partnership is an excellent expression of First Community Mortgage’s recently introduced ‘Human Mortgage’ branding,” Canter said, “Goodwill is a one-of-a-kind company with a great foundation that is always willing to help those in need. Because of our intense desire to truly help people with our human approach, partnering with Goodwill is something we are thrilled – and honored – to be able to do.”

FIRST COMMUNITY MORTGAGE HIRES SVP OF STRATEGY AND CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER

Murfreesboro, TN, (February 23, 2017) – Murfreesboro-based First Community Mortgage (FCM) recently announced the appointment of Christy Long Hoskins as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Chief Marketing Officer. In the newly created role, Hoskins will contribute to the development of FCM’s overall strategic vision and lead all marketing, branding, and advertising activities, with a focus on the customer experience-based Human Mortgage brand.  She will report to Executive Vice President and Director of Lending Andy Voyles.

First Community Mortgage is a company committed to people, and Christy has the ability to engage people in a meaningful way at every level, from personal communication to brand building, while finding unique ways to help them develop and grow,” said Voyles.  “That, along with her keen understanding of the mortgage process, makes her the perfect person to help us take FCM, and the Human Mortgage brand, to the next level.”

As the current Middle Tennessee Director for the Tennessee Mortgage Bankers Association and former President of the Nashville Mortgage Bankers Association, Hoskins’ track record of success stems from a focus on building strong industry and partner relationships, while also creating rewarding and valuable customer experiences.  Her commitment to servant leadership resulted in Hoskins being named the Greater Nashville Realtors’ Inaugural Affiliate of the Year in 2016, and the recipient of the Tennessee Mortgage Bankers Association Community Development award in 2015.

“Because she is both a trusted industry leader and someone who puts others first, Christy is a vital addition to our team at a time when other companies are depersonalizing and automating the mortgage process, causing frustration to homebuyers,” added CEO Keith Canter. “While her strategic vision and innovative creativity uniquely suit her to lead critical parts of our business, her tireless dedication to the service of others in the industry and the community is why she is a perfect fit for our culture.”

“Joining a company built on a foundation of integrity, and genuinely dedicated to helping people, is both exciting and humbling. In a short time, I’ve seen that Human Mortgage is so much more than a name; it is the vision of equal opportunity,” said Hoskins.  “It’s about providing the right resources to people who dream of owning a home, and making sure they understand the entire process.  I’m looking forward to helping expand the reach and impact of Human Mortgage, while finding additional innovative ways to make our customers’ experiences truly enjoyable.”

FCM Announces New Branch in Cleveland, OH

MURFREESBORO, TN — First Community Mortgage announced today a new office location has opened in Cleveland, OH. The Cleveland team will be FCM’s new consumer direct team.

The Cleveland office will have a dedicated team to help retain FCM’s current and former clients. This team will help clients review their mortgage to make sure they’re taking advantage of any program changes or interest rate drop, which could mean a better financial position.

Having a one-on-one approach will help clients receive direct answers to questions, which is a number one priority for FCM being the ‘Lender of Choice’. “With the changing ways clients like to apply for a mortgage online, we still believe there has to be a human element to doing so,” said Todd Turner, VP of Regional Sales for the Midwest. “This team will allow clients to apply online for their mortgage while being assisted by one of our Loan Originators in the Cleveland, OH office.”

FCM has hired Tim Krichbaum as the Branch Manager for this location. “Krichbaum is the epitome of a blue collar, hardworking mortgage professional,” said Turner. “Tim’s been in the mortgage industry for 12 years, his work ethic is second to none and he knows what it takes to build a world class Consumer Direct Division.”

Cleveland offers a great deal of talent in the mortgage industry to allow continued growth opportunities for FCM in the Consumer Direct Division.
